THE STOCK TAKING
Shuchi Krishan’s paintings have, and can be seen to have, a subject. The painter seems to be direct, and at moments, lyrical whenever it is appropriate; her subject is of a kind that can be treated in a simple, lucid fashion. While she knows and appreciates the international and experimental art of our times, her own allegiance is more to indigenous and traditional forms of expression. There is something nostalgic about the prevailing mood of her art; a sense of awe at the passing of time, an intense enough response, expressed in realistic images of Rajasthan’s chequered sagas and lore. And all such certainly brings us a contemplative pleasure.
Being a tradition respecting painter in a positive sense the artists craft shows a care for regular, time tested craft rules; her images and colors are as a whole lucid and precise but not unduly complex; and her moods, as I have already said are a celebration of life. The several works are either minus figures else delicately detailed.
In sum this work hints at how time takes its toll, and the vacancy that can then result in the one who is musing over the desert, as much as over the great monuments of a rich colorful past. This is a look back which all of a sensitive nature must share in. In still other works, we see traces of the continuing, on going life, fresh blood carrying on the great adventure, here on earth. Life is sad, of course, but ii nevertheless has some joy, certainly. And it is so the painter introduces us to her muse.

‘Padmashree’
Eminent Indian art critique
This
year when I returned to India, as Ambassador of
Colombia, one of the first places I visited was
Rajasthan. It was only then that the meaning of
the name Rajasthan was told to me:
The Abode of Kings. It was no surprise
for me, because I had sensed this very meaning
before.
It
is a great honor for me to inaugurate this important
exhibition and I am grateful to Mrs. Shuchi Krishan
for having honored me. It was great to see her
work, depicting the meditative women, with their
beautiful, big eyes, and their sweet, mysterious
looks as they walk along the corridors, or pose
by the pillars or balconies of magnificent buildings.
Her work reminded me of those fantastic tales
from my childhood. Her work reminded me of women
with strong souls, full of goodness, love and
beauty being the inspiration behind the greatest
deeds. It reminded me, also, of how women with
their capacity for service and their dignity are
the sustenance of the family and the strength
of society. At the same time in Mrs. Krishans
work I see the soul of Rajasthan that so deeply
reached my heart.
I
am very happy to be here for the opening of this
exhibition, which I am sure, will be a great success.
I can see that Mrs. Shuchi Krishans works
are a great contribution to Indias renowned
works of art.
I
invite all of you to experience this wonderful
exhibition and delight in the beautiful paintings.
I also invite you to let your imagination fly
and leave this place with a sense of awe for what
the human spirit can achieve through art.
Thank
you very much.

Your
paintings are breath-takingly beautiful. I believe
they give homage to the great inner peace that
is found through faith and reflection upon one's
origins and traditions. Welcome to Millennium

One
of the artists gaining steady prominence in the
contemporary art scene is Shuchi Krishan of New
Delhi. There is a certain vibrancy in her work,
which is reflected in the subjects she chooses,
as well as in the spectacular colours of her medium.
In fact, as the figures and backdrop of her canvases
are often derived from Rajasthan, the earthy hues
and richness of the culture and architecture of
that state lend their peculiar charm to her work.
Born in Delhi in November 1958, Shuchi Krishan
has exhibited her work in several prestigious
venues in India and abroad. Her exhibitions have
captivated people in Iraq (1984) Mauritius (1993)
Malaysia (1997) and at Gallerie art folio Singapore
(2000).
Many
of Shuchi Krishans works have found homes
in India and abroad. Her portraits of the beauty
empress Shahnaz Hussain have been highly acclaimed.
Shuchis
earlier work experience in art studios has helped
to give maturity to her brush. She also excels
in glass painting, wash, tanjores and mud panels.
It
can rightly be said that she is woman of many
parts who can look forward to a rich and rewarding
future.

Hello, my name is Mais Karadesh. I just sent you
a letter from our establishment asking for your
permission to use images from your site by projection
at the Blue Fig. Well to be honest with you, I wrote
only because I had to let the Artist who brought
a smile and feelings of solace know the effect of
her paintings has on a person’s emotions.
They say there is such a word as ‘emotive
words’ Well I personally find it better said
as ‘emotive paintings’, your colors
speak in language of the soul, bringing a tune of
harmony. I am very much impressed with your work
and I must say that your paintings seem to have
a hidden secret, one that can only be revealed to
a person who truly appreciates art and the colors
that come to life right there before one’s
eyes. I want to bring your paintings which reflect
your culture sto the people of Jordan and Kuwait.
